The International Mine Water Association in association with the Colorado School of Mines will host IMWA2013 at the Green Center on the campus of Colorado School of Mines.

IMWA2013 LogoThe Conference will present developments in mine water technology worldwide, including research, implementation, development, impact analysis, regulatory framework, and project applications.

The Conference will consist of a broad overview session on Tuesday morning (August 5th), followed by keynote presentations and technical sessions on Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Friday. A mid-conference field excursion will take place on Wednesday (August 7). Learn more...

Conference Objectives

The Conference seeks to disseminate and share current and developing research and practice in mine water technology, engineering, management, and environmental protection. It is directed primarily toward those active in mine water research, permitting, mine operation, mine waste management, and mine closure, including those in the mining industry, government, academic, consulting, and stakeholder communities.

The post-conference field trip is directed at providing practical observation of mine water technology in action, for practical engineers, scientists, stakeholders, and regulators.

Mid- and Post-Conference Tours

The Post-Conference Tour will feature a three-day visit to a major metal mine and a major gold mine in the US mountain west, providing first-hand experience of state-of-the-art mine water management practices and environmental protection.

Call for Papers

Papers are being solicited for presentation at the Conference in all areas of mine water technology, including permitting, inflow, dewatering, depressurization, control, supply, management, treatment, impact, and closure. A full listing of the categories for papers is available. Learn more...
