General information

Sponsored by the Colorado School of Mines Office of Research and Technology Transfer, this half-day workshop is geared towards those who wish to submit winning Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants.

The featured speaker will be Susan Celis, currently the Program Director for DARPA Small Business Programs Office and SBIR/STTR Program Manager. Susan is focused on creating an environment that considers small business concerns as a primary source of innovative solutions; expanding small business relationships and training opportunities within DoD and other federal agencies; and enabling the small business community to create and transition radical, game-changing technologies. Formerly, Susan was the US Army SBIR Program Manager at the US Army Materiel Command, where she developed and successfully implemented several program and system modernization initiatives.

Discussions will center on government agency requirements, crucial sections of successful proposals, demonstration of commercial viability and what to do once funding is awarded. Participants will also be engaged in networking, Q & A session and lectures on how the SBIR process can be a part of any company's innovation and business strategy. Other speakers will include local experts on how to leverage the local tech-based economic development before, during and after applying and receiving an SBIR or STTR award.
